Legends presents Francois K

Legends presents Francois K

100% Francois Kevorkian!

Clap Your Hands

Clap Your Hands

Coyu and Ramiro Lopez are regular production partners, having released a number of tracks on Coyu’s own Suara in the past, as well as John Digweed’s esteemed Bedrock Records. This latest track on Drumcode further adds to their reputation as a force to be reckoned with. ‘Clap Your Hands’ allows the pair to display their talent for harder-edged techno. Pounding drums, metallic rattling, a tension-filled breakdown and the eponymous distorted vocal sample help to ensure the track fits in perfectly with Drumcode’s high-quality repertoire. Made with the dancefloor in mind, Coyu debuted ‘Clap Your Hands' during his set at Valencia’s Marenostrum Festival, where it received a spectacular reception.

TERRY HUNTER INTERVIEW
Published On 24 marzo 2014 | Interviews

What are the projects that recently mostly involved you?
I’ve been working a lot lately but I just produced a song for Jennifer Hudson new album title “It’s Your World” due out in May on RCA records… Also just finish a Rmx for John Legend “All Of Me” new Wayne Williams single Feat. Kenny Bobien & House N’HD “Soulfrica” so I’ve been busy happy to say.

A lot of producers involved in house or tech house are still taking inspiration from the early house and techno vinyls published in Chicago, New York, Detroit etc. What do you think about their kind of approach? I like what the younger producers doing there bringing the best of the old 90′s we used to do with the current sounds hats off.

In your opinion what’s missing nowadays in the electronic music scene?
The live element is missing I don’t hear enough chords to many single note melodies in my opinion in music today seem like there scared of it… I love the synths and all but needs more of a live feel the newer music.

What are the things you find interesting and motivational which let you continue producing and deejaying?
I love the advancement in the DAW & plug ins… lets you do so much and now there are really getting the sound close to the analog but for the connivence I use a lot of plugs mixed with the analog sound.

How is going on the work behind your label T’s Box?
It’s going really well have a lot of releases lined up… I just put out the new remix package of “We Are One” with mixes from Louie Vega, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Spen, DJ Beloved, Davide Fiorese so hopefully that will do well and please people go support that release.

You’re ready to be part of the Different Grooves On Air featured artists, what can you tell us about the podcast you recorded?
This is a mix that I complied to promote my BBE comp in titled Bang which is my Sunday night residency at the shrine night club in Chicago… It show cases the music I play each week so I hope you enjoy it.

Is anything new forthcoming in the next months you wanna tell us about?
I think I mention everything I’m doing so please be on the look and all your support is welcome.

Thanks for the time you spent for the interview and good luck!
Thank you!

JOSS MOOG INTERVIEW
Published On 17 marzo 2014 | Interviews

Hi Joss, first of all welcome to Different Grooves!
Hi guys!

Lets start from the beginning: tell us how you approached to house music?
Towards the age of 12 I received a small synth for Christmas. I liked the idea that one can do anything with a single instrument. Then my synths became increasingly big and numerous and I started to do some electronic production with a friend of mine, Around 7, who has released two excellent LP on Robsoul Jazz. I gradually turned to house music at the end of the 90s and even more after I met Phil Weeks at the same period. We did a few songs together and then I released my first EP, “Room 25”, in 2006.

Which are your main musical influences?
Out of house music my roots are acid-jazz, funk, disco, hiphop, soul and jazz.

Tell us how you get in touch with Phil Weeks and RobSoul Recordings?
We did sports together and we discovered that music was a common passion. We have always enjoyed working together because we are friends and musically we complement each other . Before Robsoul, it was already working, so collaboration on the label productions were done naturally.

Which is you favorite own release?
My best memory is my first EP, Room 25, because it was my first one, but also because it worked well and I got good returns. It’s always nice for a producer to say that his music is not listened to only by his parents. As a “new” producer you do not know at all how your music will be perceived. In this case I had and I still have very good feedback on tracks like “Forever Pimpin ‘” for example.

You are ready to be part of Different Grooves On Air catalogue: would you tell our readers and listeners what they are ready to hear from your podcast?
Some underground funky deep house music with brand new tracks notably from Robsoul, some old jewels by Soulphiction, moodymann and more…Don’t miss the tracklist!!

Joss Moog in the next 6 months: unveil our readers your future plans?
The main project I’m working on right now is the creation of a label to be called “Ondulé”. This is an exciting adventure that I’m experiencing with some friends. One of the aims is to provide an electronic music to play live. I want to return to my first love, playing house tracks mixing machines and instruments, samplers, computers and synths, bass on the one hand and brass on the other.

Was a pleasure to spend quality time with you Joss, thank you!
Thanks ;)
